The individual, the team and the organization: each of these components must be considered when building a solid team.

In this unique three stepped program participants learn to be part of an active, contributing team. Participants learn what their greatest contribution is in creating a high performing team.  Understanding of how a team functions and develops as well as team dynamics are explored.

In this highly participative program encourages participants to look at their role from both introspective and integrative views.

Through use of diagnostic tools, exercises and simulations, participants identify their own communications and conflict styles.  Once identified, participants build their confidence and ability to respond to the varying needs of groups as they function and develop.  This creates a more cohesive, productive and results oriented team which can have a dramatic impact on customers, retention and bottom line.

Course Length:

Three 1 day sessions with one coaching session for each participant after each session. 

Session 1: Teambuilding: The Team Member

This first session is introspective, it focuses on the individual within a team. Each participant identifies where their areas of greatest strength are and how that contributes to team success as well as identifying their core, driving values.  They immediately see the impact they have on situations and people using the knowledge of values and strengths.  Discussions around change, time management, stress and meetings round out this session.  They leave the session with a personal roadmap of how to have increased contribution on their team and fully utilize their strengths and skills.

  • An understanding of how personal values fit in the Toyota culture
  • Identify areas of strength and areas of less strength
  • Understand how each strength can best be leveraged for greater individual contribution

Session 2: Teambuilding: My Team

This second session builds on the first session but can be offered independently.  This program focuses on the team as a unit.  Participants focus on how their contribution now impacts the entire team and how to leverage all strengths on the team to greater an even greater team.  They leave the session with a plan and strategies for how to improve work relationships and team effectiveness.

  • Understand the 7 key characteristics of a highly successful team
  • Identify 4 styles of communication
  • Understand your style of communication
  • Explore options for working well with others on your team, collaboratively and productively
  • Understand the 8 choices in perspectives
  • Identify the 4 Stages of Group Development
  • Discover how valuing differences has positive impact on trust and relationship building on a team
  • Focus on a greater understanding others
  • Create greater understanding of internal and external customers
  • Set goals to help the team progress toward their goals
  • Building trust and respect on the team for greatest performance
  • Identify key steps and indicators to seeking and building on creative ideas


Session 3: Teambuilding: Contribution to The Organization

This session builds on the previous two but can also be offered as a stand alone.  In this session participants create a picture for a team or project, whether they are the leader or a team member.  They also map out key touch points to their customers, and create improvements to each.  This is done using a base of what they have learned so far in leveraging strengths and skills as well as incorporating their vision into a customer focused plan.  They leave the session with an action plan.

Key points of the course:

  • Create a vision story that brings all the elements of team building together
  • Develop an action plan to make the future vision a reality
  • Uncover any roadblocks to project/team success
  • Map out the process/steps of current customer focused processes
  • Analyze the current process to create more customer focused processes
  • Identify areas to improve the focus based on team skills and customer orientation
  • Integrate Toyota’s Values into everyday work, vision and processes
  • Identify ways to work cross functionally to create a better outcome
  • Practice leveraging individual strengths and skills for best service and performance
  • Initiate, influence and support positive change through understanding of current processes

Post session coaching:

Each participant will be given a reinforcement and development coaching session after each training session.
