Coaching FAQ

What does a coach do?

A coach works in partnership with you. It is based on the premise that the client is creative, resourceful and whole. You have the answers. A good coach will prompt you to get you to really look at things, sometimes in a way that you have never viewed it before. It's like driving down the 1-75 to Florida... you drive, the coach navigates. You define your objectives and your coach navigates the path to get you there. You create accountability and have a huge supporter. I have the tools, knowelge and experience to guide you along a more enlightened path.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Coaching takes a snapshot in time of where you are now and helps you define where you want to go, i.e. what do you want your future to be... your work, leadership, relationships, health, family and so on. Therapy takes a look at all the events that have occurred until this point in time.

How is coaching different from consulting?

Coaching is based on you having the answers and being the expert of your life. Coaching guides you along the path, asking many powerful and reflective questions to catapult you forward. Consulting assumes the consultant is the expert and tells you what to do.

Who gets coached?

Successful people. Star achievers. Top performers. You.

Fast Company reports: "If you're not getting better, you're falling behind. To elevate your game, find the personal coach with the right strategy and style for you.

World-class athletes know it. So do opera divas. Winners in nearly every profession know that without the right coach, they won't perform at their peak. And now a select number of businesspeople know it, too: as organizations flatten, as production cycles hit hyperspeed, as change becomes a constant, coaches can help you become a better, more nimble business leader."

Tiger Woods has a coach. He's a winner and so are you.

How does coaching compliment training?

Companies report an average 86% increase in productivity when coaching is added to training
How long does someone need to work with a coach?
Usually I work with clients for 3-6 months. Some clients achieve all their objectives sooner, other clients update objectives and continue to work with me for longer. It is always a great celebration when a client achieves all their objectives and no longer needs coaching.

What qualifies Anne to be a coach?

I have been coaching officially since 1998. I have always been a coach, it's just in me. I was educated through the Coaches Training Institute (CTI). I also have my Human Resources Designation (CHRM). I also studied Psychology at York University. Learning is lifelong.

Professionally I have held senior leadership roles at Nortel and Architel.
Have a look at my bio if you need more information.

How much does coaching cost?

The question isn't really how much does it cost. The real question is what is the cost you are paying now of not achieving the levels of performance, satisfaction, contribution and leadership that you want? When it's time to create positive change in each area of your work and life, you invest in yourself, your team, your organization.

Oh, and remember, the average return on investment on coaching is reported as 529%.
